Welcome to the Alcantara Lab

We are in the Botany Department at the UFSC in Brazil.
Our research is based on an integrative approach between evolution & ecology, with a focus on Neotropical plants from open vegetation areas.
Our current fieldwork is concentrated at the Espinhaço Range Mountains in Eastern Brazil as well as in costal dunes ("restingas") and grasslands in South Brazil.

We also work closely with collaborators from several Brazilian and foreign institutions, focusing on several additional study systems. This multidisciplinary team is part of the PLENTBio, a research group focused on PLant Evolution & NeoTropical Biogeography.

Please, check out the Research and People pages for more information on specific projects.
